A primary protagonist in Watchers of Raikou, Zenith (or Zeni, as he prefers to be called) meets with Zak on rather odd terms, but the two quickly become good friends. Zeni actually hails from the Orre region, a continent covered in barren deserts and wastelands. Though he doesn't talk about his past much with his friends, it is clear that he has troublesome memories of the place he came from.

Zeni claims to be a "Master Pokemon Thief", though it is not clear whether he has ever actually stolen any Pokemon in his life as his attempts always seem to go awry. Despite his aloof and sarcastic nature, Zeni is a committed Pokemon trainer and a loyal friend who is a valuable asset to any team.

Overview:

Zak originally stumbles into Zeni (literally) by falling over him on his way down the mountainside east of Azalea Town. Zeni, taking this as a challenge attempts to battle with Zak "as a matter of honour", but Zak has no time and simply ignores the boy, continuing towards the nearest Pokemon Centre. Zeni proceeds to follow him and attempts (unsuccessfully) to steal the boy's Pokemon, though he refuses to let this deter him, stalking Zak as he journeys north to Violet City, where the two trainers eventually call a truce, deciding to sign up for the Violet City Double Battle Tournament as a team.
