Overview:

Capitol city of the Johto region and home of an official Johto Pokemon League Gym.

Goldenrod is situated along the western inner coastline of Johto and this central location has benefitted the city tremendously, giving it great access to most major highways in the region as well as regular shipping routes to and from Olivine City. In addition the city is the only location in the entirety of Johto to be linked to the Kanto region via the impressive Magnet Train which can transport passengers to and from Saffron City in less than a day.

Johto is also the main location of Johto's commercial industries, most noteable of which is the Radio Tower, which hosts some of the best-known talent and shows across the entire continent. There is even a Game Corner and casino within the city, offering tourists and locals alike a great distraction from the hustle and bustle of busy city life.

Just south of the city is the Pokemon Day Care, making this city a favourite amongst Johto's many Pokemon breeders, who flock to the area all year long.

Goldenrod's weather is generally sunny and warm most of the year, though the humidity reaches intense levels during the summer thanks to its coastal location and snow is not entirely uncommon during the colder winter months.

Pokemon Gym:

The Goldenrod City Gym is lead by Whitney Akane, who is an expert with Normal-type Pokemon and whose natural charm and youthful innocence betrays her inner strength as a truly powerful trainer. Trainers who manage to defeat Whitney are awarded the Plain Badge of proof of their impressive victory.

The Gym itself is crafted in the shape of a Clefairy, one of Whitney's star Pokemon, and inside is decorated with both white and pink colour schemes to match the bubbly personality of its young leader.

Goldenrod City Gym is officially ranked as the third official Pokemon Gym of the Johto region, behind Azalea Town and before Ecruteak City.

Radio Tower:

A large radio broadcasting facility which has been affectionately nicknamed the "Johto Tower" by residents. The Radio Tower is serviced by one major broadcaster which employs such talent as DJ Mary and has even been known to house talks from Professor Oak of Kanto.

Magnet Train Station:

Home of the fastest train across the continent, the Magnet Train Station regularly services both Goldenrod and Saffron, making it a regular destination for many businessmen and women across both regions. The Magnet Train is known for its impeccable service and speed and as a result only the very rich ever seem to travel on it.

Game Corner:

A large casino complex featuring slot machines and roulette games for those willing to test their luck (so long as they have the cash to spare). Rare and exotic prizes are offered and can only be found here, making it a popular destination in the city. Fortunately the Game Corner is open twenty-four hours a day, so there's always room for one more player.

Pokemon Day Care:

Affectionately run by the Day Care Couple, this modest accomodation is always happy to look after the Pokemon of trainers for a small fee. There are often stories of Pokemon Eggs appearing here, making this a top destination for avid Pokemon breeders.
